3 Powerful Keys to Turn Your Lack into More than Enough

May 15, 2023

There is no better example of turning little into more than enough than when Jesus fed thousands with a small amount of food.
Jesus was and still is God as part of the Trinity, but He came to the earth as a man. Every miracle He performed was done as a man with the power of God operating in Him. He even said,

…He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works …

John 14:12

That simply means we can do it too! But how did He do that?

The account in Mark 8 tells the story. Jesus told his disciples He felt compassion for the 4,000 people who had been with Him for 3 days and had run out of food. His disciples asked Him where they were going to get enough food to feed all those people in the middle of the wilderness.

And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people. And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them. So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

Mark 8:6-8

Jesus, the man, did 3 things that were key to performing that miracle:

  1. Jesus gave thanks for what they did have. — Be thankful for everything you already have, and give thanks for it! If it’s not enough to meet the need, it is enough to be a seed that will produce a harvest.
  2. Jesus took what looked like not enough and made use of it.  — Use what you have. Put it to work, and get it out there. Open your eyes, and put what you already have to work in the kingdom of God.
  3. Jesus blessed what they had. We have a tendency to grumble about things that are seemingly not enough. Instead, bless what you have, and watch it multiply. Bless it!

After 4,000 people had eaten their fill, there were 7 baskets of leftovers from what started out as 7 loaves and a few fishes. Now that is truly more than enough!
