How to be a VIP

Jun 18, 2021

No one is created for failure.

Lawson Perdue

God created each of us as VIPs. He made each of us for a specific purpose.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10

But how do we live as VIPs in this world? How do we discover His purpose for our lives?

The first thing we need to look at is our vision. Vision gives us direction; it helps us take new territory and fulfill the plans of God for our lives (Prov. 29:18). Vision comes from God, but in order to get where God has called us to go, we must know our identity. Our identity is not about what we do. It’s not about where we grew up. Our identity is in Christ; it is how God sees us (Gal. 6:15).

Romans 12:2 tells us that when we understand our identity in Christ by the renewing of our minds, God gives us the vision to fulfill His purpose—His will—on the earth:

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

But what does that look like practically? Here are some questions you can use to evaluate your God-given purpose:

  1. Is it greater than myself? Can I do this in my own strength? (John 15:5 and Phil. 4:13)
  2. Do I have a special gift, talent, or ability in this area? (Dan. 1:17-20)
  3. What is my passion? Would I do this even if I didn’t get paid? (Phil. 3:8-14)
  4. What is its eternal value? (1 Cor. 3:10-15)

Jesus came to the earth with a specific purpose. First John 3:8 says, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

And as His workmanship, you and I have a specific purpose too. You are a VIP!
