CHARIS MINUTES

Watch the video to hear Andrew’s full answer on, ‘How to humble yourself before God’

In this Charis Minute, Andrew Wommack teaches out of 1 Peter, chapter five, and shows us what it looks like to humble yourself before God. Andrew also highlights the attitudes we may present when we are not humbling ourselves. If you’ve asked the question about how to humble yourself before God, read on!

Let’s turn over to first Peter, chapter five, verses five through to seven.

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time. Now most people just stop right there, but the seventh verse says casting all of your care upon Him because He careth for you. They don’t realise that these are not separate thoughts, they’re connected. I could say a lot of things about this but I will say that if you are anxious, worried, careful, and you’re worried and you’re staying up at night saying, ‘God, what am I going to do? How do I get out of this?’ You haven’t humbled yourself because that’s the context here in this Scripture.

How to humble yourself by casting cares

The way you humble yourself is by casting your care.

If you’re still holding on to it and saying, ‘it’s my responsibility, what do I have to do?’ You haven’t totally humbled yourself. Humility isn’t talking about being based, or being weak. It’s talking about being God-dependent. When you cast your care over on the Lord and say, ‘God, this is your problem. I’m your child. I’m doing to the best of my ability what you’ve told me to do to your problem.

Sometimes we just feel like we’ve got to do something. No, God’s got to do something and there’s a lot of things involved in that. You can’t be doing your own thing and then have that kind of peace. If you are really seeking God, and if you cast your care over on the Lord, that’s the way it should be. I’ve got a lot more on this and if you’d like to dig deeper then I’ve got a teaching entitled Self-centredness: the source of all grief.
